Is anyone still reading this blog?
If so, I wanted to share with everyone a good pre-Vegas read. I got "Fortune's Formula" from a coworker for x-mas and I'm reading it as part of my New Year's Resolutions / Vegas Training push between now and March (which includes no TV but NCAA hoops (exception made for the Eagles), gambling-related reading only, intense sessions with the online blackjack trainer to test out new betting strategies, and a few sit ups here and there). Anyway, I'm only about a quarter into it, but so far it's a very interesting mix of topics-math, gambling and information theories, history of organized crime and illegal betting organizations, and how people from all these wildly different worlds come together in an effort to beat the system. It may be more appealing to the more nerdy of us (I'm looking at you, Eric), but I think everyone here would appreciate the history parts.
In other news, the Lady Terps lost a close one last night. Once again, they had trouble when Tolliver couldn't make her shots-she only had 2 points in the first half. We also seem to be allergic to jumping in the paint for rebounds (specifically, Liles) and suffered in this department when Coleman went out with leg cramps. On offense, they have this horrible habit of penetrating the lane and then passing on a semi-contested shot that could have drawn a foul. Instead, they want to bump it out which either results in a turnover or missed 3. Ugh. I'm worried about this team in the tournament-they'll win their first round game, of course, but might be one to bet against. If they play someone with a big post person, they could have trouble.
